If you use your own choice of garage, then (although the insurer will be paying the bill), they will regard you as the customer. And will want to keep you sweet rather than the bill payer!

Obviously the ideal scenario is to get Admiral to approve my choice of garage?

Doubt they will do that! (Though they cannot insist you go to their repairer).

So options would appear to be
    1) use Admiral's approved Toyota dealership 2 hours away (& deal with the hassle that would bring)
    2) use more local Admiral repair centre (& risk the warranty on a 6 week old car being void)
    3) Claim with the 3rd party's insurer directly

Tell Admiral that is where you want the vehicle repaired (local toyota dealer)... let them thrash the costs out with them, if they refuse make a complaint on the basis your vehicle is 6 weeks old and whilst they can 'recommend' you use their garage they cannot force you to do so. If Admiral still cannot agree reasonable rates with the garage tell them to instruct an independent engineer to agree rates as that's where you, the non fault party would like your vehicle repaired.

Keep it short, sharp and simple. Don't be rude, but don't be pushed over either.

    Thanks again,

The vehicle is now with the main dealer who has done the quote based on replacement panels & doors as opposed to any repair work.

Waiting for Admiral to thrash it out with them in terms of costs, hoping that it will all go smoothly but not holding my breath ;)
