Key stuck in ignition. any advice?

Options
Had a new key (with alarm & central locking control) cut/coded for a 2002 ford fiesta after losing my old one. The key was a bit awkward to remove from the ignition but I naively assumed that it would 'wear in'. Got home today and was unable to remove the key from the ignition.

I've phoned the locksmith who is coming round tomorrow to have a look at it, but am concerned as I came across a few pages, courtesy of Google, which reckoned a trip to the garage for a replacement barrel will be needed.

Hopefully the locksmith can rectify it but if he's unable to and I had to get it fixed would I be able to get it fixed via insurance his/mine or would I end up having to pay myself?

With luck it will be a quick fix tomorrow, but I'm wanting to be prepared just in case.

Anyone come across similar problem?
