Hi looking for some Advice
I signed on today, and i asked for a JSA10 for hardships payments, as I'm on a sanction for 6 weeks, I'm into the 2 nd week now of the sanction. I filled out the JSA10 and gave him the form and he send he would sent it off to the decision makers.
Does anyone know how long to wait for a decision, i've read its 10 days? I'm not too sure.
I live on my own, have no children so I dont know if i fall into a vulnerable category or not.
I also asked him if there was any free course's that i can attend like further education, and he said yes,he looked surprised at this when i asked!!!
So he gave me a booklet, told me to choose a course, then let him know and he'll set it up for me next time i sign on. Which i'm going to do.
So does anyone know what time limit is on hardship payments are?
Thank you.

If there is a hardship DM in your office the decision should be made fairly quickly. Are you claiming JSA IB? If your are claiming C you will need to reapply for IB first.
Normal rules is nothing for first 14 days of a sanction then a 40% reduction applied. I would expect a decision within 10 days easy enough but not necessary a payment that quick as your benefit is always in arrears providing you satisfy hardship criteria.0 -
Thank you busy mom for the reply.
I am claiming JSA Contributions at the moment. I really don't want to claim JSA income based, as the time limit on processing is long.
I will wait for a decision on the hardship payments, whether i get it or not. I'm not sure.
I hope a job comes my way soon, as i don't really like claiming benefits.0 -
What is the sanction for? Will you be returning to work in the near future?0

This sanction is for 6 weeks, as it because I left my last job voluntary, due reasons i don't want to explain on here. I'm not moaning about the sanction. It could of been worse and longer too.
Yes i'm planning to return to work as soon as I'm offered a job. I'm keeping postive as i'm applying for jobs every day and something has to turn up and i believe this.0 -
I'm afraid a hardship decision because of a sanction cannot me made on a C claim. You will need to claim IB.0

Yes Busy mum i was thinking this too,but i'll wait and see what they say.
3 weeks left now on this sanction, and i dont think i want to sign off and claim IB so i just have to try somehow to cope.
It took at least 3 weeks to get my claim active and live on JSA C. So im not going to risk signing off just to claim JSA in come based.
I 'll let you know the outcome busy mom

Just an update Busy Mom.
I went to sign on today, and asked about the hardship payments and I am entitled to it as my adviser told me and showed me on the screen, i was accepted, I was really thinking i was not going to receive anything.
I am claiming JSA C, so i think the rules have changed i'm not sure.
Thank you busy Mom for all your help, and this is a great forum and great people who give good advise.0 -

Well the rules shouldn't have, only thing I can think is when you claimed they may have assessed you for IB as well as C, sometimes this is done for single people if the information is provided.
I make hardship decision and checked today and the rules haven't changed.
Good luck with your job search.0
