Dead lamb

Hi all , earlier on i was walking past a field and i saw a man, husky dog and 3 kids .
The dog was offled and ran in to the field with lambs and sheep and went straight to the lamb and killed it .
They then caught the dog and ran off leaving the poor lamb there .
I dont know if your meant to report it or anything but i feel like i should of done something but what ? they were a ew fields away from me so i didnt see them again x

  • Contact the farmer immediately. The poor creature might not be dead and could be laying in agony.

I agree with NKH. I'd also go to the police and report what you saw.

Do you live in a small town/village? The reason I say a small place is that a husky is more noticable than it would be in a larger town so hopefully the owner would be more easily identified.

Please try and do something. It may not be the first time the dog has killed livestock and the chances are very high that it won't be the last.

Also worth reporting it incase any of the other sheep haven't lambed yet - the stress of being chased by a dog can cause the sheep to abort and the farmer may want to keep a close eye on them.
  • Please report it straightaway. We have neighbours that keep a very small pet flock of sheep (and goats) and they have had no less than three lambs attacked by dogs (one was too badly injured to survive) in the last 18 months and this is in a small village where 'everyone knows each other'. The dog that killed a lamb, was by sheer, coincidence a husky-mix and off lead. A passerby saw what happened otherwise I'm guessing our neighbours wouldn't have known which dog was responsible. Very, very sad and appalling that dogs are 'allowed' by their owners to run loose in a field with young livestock.
  • I don't really have any advice just wanted to say that poor lamb :( you must be really upset having seen that

Yep, please report. Other sheep who have not yet lambed could be stressed by this and cause them and their lambs issues.
