What a load of b****x. I suggest you actually talk to an opthalmic surgeon about how eyes work.Nearsightedness is caused by focusing on close-up objects such as a book or a computer for long periods of time. The result is that the eyes get stuck in the close-up focus position and can no longer focus on distant objects.
I wonder how he can equate his stance to my myopia which has been in existence since I was 3. I am now 55 so there were no computers in those days and we never had a TV until I was 7. The basic problem is that the eye muscles were too strong and could not relax sufficiently to see at a distance. The bonus now is that as the muscles have aged my eyesight has actually improved. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. TBH as all the grandparents, myself and OH plus all the aunts and uncles (plus almost every member of both our families) wear glasses and are majority shortsighted we have always had the kids tested on a regular basis.
The only one to need glasses is the eldest who got them 2 years ago when 13. The optician did say (and they have said this to me in the past) that there is that vicious circle thing when the more you wear specs the worse the condition gets and I thought it was pretty well known. She suggested he wear them for short periods when he really needs them-eyes tired, sat at the back of a lecture in the hall at school etc and rest his eyes in between. Recently he was retested and his eyes had virtually stayed the same, but he got new glasses as he had damaged the previous pair.
I didn't need specs till 22 ish and Oh was around 10 and so far non of ours have been diagnosed very young as yet. Interesting vid though.

I'm not an expert in this field so I have no idea whether it's true or not. If this is true, this information will be published in a reputable journal.0

Good luck with that...
Just watched the video and decided that the last place I'd want to seek advice about looking after my child's eyesight is a public forum like this where every Tom, !!!!!! and Harry with an opinion and without any knowledge will give the benefit of their wisdom!0 -
thanks
I knew it may be an emotive subject when I posted, my own eyes are shot, due to years and years of wearing distance. Each time you go your prescription worsens. If this is true, it potentially prevents a life time of wearing (buying glasses).
I dont know if prescribing the opposite way would further damage eyesight or why?
so I am hopeful for further answers.0 -

When a group make medical claims without medical research, you can be pretty comfortable that it'll be poppycock. His 'proof' on the website is far from 'proof' TBH0

I contacted a professional today, if you care to read my origional post.
This is a public forum, where information can be posted, because it COULD be beneficial to many people.
You are't an optician by any chance are you?0 -
This would be better posted on the health forum, there are some qualified people in this area that frequent that forum. As a rule of thumb, I wouldn't put any credibility to an internet video. Any quack can create any association to promote any opinion.
I'll stress, I'm not qualified to comment technically on the claims in this video. I prefer to get medical opinions on the basis of individual examination and consultation. I'd commend this approach to others.0 -
