AMEX Invitation

in Credit cards
Hi about two months ago i applied and was declined for an AMEX cashback credit card.
Today i receive a letter from them inviting me to apply for an AMEX gold charge card.
Am i likely to be accepted? Obviously AMEX know my details, i don't want to waste a new search though.
Also not sure about the fees £125 a year but free for first year.
i will only spend about 4K on it which makes me think it not really suitable, but the more times AMEX turn me down the more i want one.

No. There is no correlation between the mailing list and the scoring/acceptance process. They did this with me in 1998, with a 'you've been approved' marketing letter - only to be declined.
Taking it to the ASA achieved nothing, as they explained the approval related to the offer of a free card for my spouse, NOT the card itself!0 -
Their marketing works well doesnt it?
I would find it highly unlikely that any review of data has happened. Companies tend to be fairly poor at removing people from marketing lists they buy - I've been a sky customer for 10+ years and still monthly receive letters inviting me to join sky.
From memory Amex recommend leaving 6 months between applications. Personally I reapplied after 2 months as I suspected I knew their concerns the first time and had taken corrective actions, and was accepted0 -
You had a barclaycard invitation drop through your door the other week aswell you must be on some sort of mailing list.0

i have a barclaycard so mailing was an existing customer offer, and i assume AMEX got my details from recent application, i also appealed decision but no avail.
I am not going to pursue it this time, i really want cashback card rather than a charge card, and as ive made several applications in last few months i am going to wait until new year before applying for anything else.0
