Safestyle...grrrr!

Have had the whole house done to a cost of £7000 by Safestyle. When they gave us the original quote, we asked if we needed lintels putting in, as next door had had windows replaced and no lintels and now the windows are bowing. The 'salesman' said we would probably need them but they would send a surveyor out who would check. The surveyor came out, prior to installation, and apparently we didn't need lintels! Now, 6 weeks later, all the brickwork around the windows is crumbling. We got back on to Safestyle who sent out an 'engineer' who said we definitely needed lintels, and the surveyor should have noticed that. Have just had a phone call from Safestyle to say they are prepared to fit the lintels at a cost of £1065 to ourselves, but because it was their error, they would knock off £100 by way of an apology!!!! We aren't in a position to pay £1000 and really don't know what to do next. We really feel they should do the work for free as is their mistake. Can anyone give some advice as to how we should proceed? Thanks in advance.

Trading standards if they refuse to budge, followed by watchdog.

From what you say there quote covered all that was necessary to complete the installation.
They got it wrong and now want you to take the tab?. Sorry, but No way.

But you should have asked earlier, Safestool Uk are viewed in this forum in the same light as Kwikcrap in the motoring section, politely putting it, very 2nd best, ;)

They should have insurances in place to cover such !!!! ups.

Have you tried calling and complaining to FENSA?

Don't know if will do much good, but Safestyle should be a member.

Personally, I will never know how anyone can buy anything from a company that has that 'idiot' doing the adverts!
