When do csa go for a deo when nrp is non compliant?

Just ranting again lol

After waiting 8 months for the csa finally to get the decision and payment amount sorted i was supposed to get my first payment on 31/8. Of course haven't got any and just rang them to be told nothing come in on the system and asked how long before they place a deo on him.
Now i know its only 2 payments but hes been non compliant for 9 years given them the runaround and never in a million years going to give up the money off his own back. Last year i was told they were going to put a deo(on the then assessment) and he went on jsa for 2 weeks. Promised enforcers, visits, investigations and of course nothing. This years assessment takes 8 months and gives him 12 years to pay off the 2 year arrears(balls ups mean this is all that it goes back).
Why haven't they put a deo on straight away? was told only the caseworker can do this, so no hope then it took him 8 months to get a decsion on the amount to be paid!
Why when you think it is moving in the right direction does it come to a halt again!
rant over lol

  • It's likely that the case will now be with debt enforcement. I'd call this evening and ask whether they've set up a method of collection for him, and whether he's been issued with the DEO warning letter - this gives him 7 days to set up a direct debit, failure to do this means they can DEO him. If they've not sent this yet, ask why not.

    Thanks for your reply.
The lady i spoke to today said that nothing had been set up and nothing had been done, all that she could see on her system was that the decision had been made for amount. That of course took 8 months and now i feel like i'm starting again to get it moving for payments. The lady did say she would send an email to the debt department and she thought that a deo wouldn't probably be any good as he would then job hop and shes probably right, she thought that debt enforcer was the way but she said that any decision was up to the case worker. Of course not much faith in that as its taken this long already and my case worker(sure theres been about 3 this time) seems to be in reverse speed! My case is also clerical which seems to make it harder finding any information out.
Will ring again tomorrow and ask those questions as may be a totally different answer tomorrow lol

sorry to jump on the thread, but can see where your coming from and been, in similar boat...
if he is not working then the deo wouldn't come into force, (£30 for 1st child) don't know rest have 1 child.
The next time you ring I would ask how much the arrears are - if there over £500 this may open doors, in terms of getting action,
If your case is in clerical it generally means its being looked at and there assesing a figure.
xx rip dad... we had our ups and downs but we’re always be family xx

I rang back the next day and actually got the wrong department but it happened to be a debt enforcer lol, she looked and no payments had come in and no form of payment had been set up so she tried to ring him but he didn't answer. Was told she would try again and if he made the outstanding 3 payment(now 4) then no deo action would be started. If she couldn't get hold of him she was sending him a letter giving him 7 days and then deo proceedings would start.
My case has been clerical for a couple of years now which is a pain as you can only ring one number for info and the arrears are over £2000 which on the current assessment will take him over 10 years to pay off at £3.75 a week.

I wouldn't bank on it lol
Was told would get a call back a week later(25) of course never arrived. Rang yesterday and got passed from pillar to post as usual and now told that on the 25 it was passed to yet again another NEW caseworker and he had 5 days to contact me with an update, not holding my breath for that call!! Do know hes ignored the warning letter and now the next step is a deo so who knows, only taken 9 years to get this far!!
  • Well rang today and still no DEO in fact still nothing done. Was told it will be passed to debt whatever(can't remember proper name) dept ,well it was passed to debt whatever dept 2 weeks ago and the week before that lol.
Was told a standing order had been set up but no money received, did they really think he would after being non compliant for 9 years!
So told that my new caseworker received my case on the 25 Sept and should have rang me before now in fact on 2 oct it said that a call back had been asked for but on the 9th non had been made ummmmmm! Nice lady couldn't understand why as there are 7 about to be 8 payments in arrears that nothing had been done, really!! she must be new lol
Anyway as usual the case worker wasn't there when they tried to contact him but told they do do a lot of work offline but she reassured me that my case will be on his desk lol
So she gave me his extension number and if not had a call by the end of today to ring back tomorrow and ask for his extension number, and i am sure he will be there!!
So as i can't get free 0845 numbers anymore and already the last 3 calls have cost me over a fiver think a trip to mothers is in order to ring as otherwise the calls are going to cost me more than anything I eventually(not holding out much hope) I will ever receive!

You need to get your MP involved now. Put in a letter of complaint and demand you are refunded for the phone calls. Ask the MPs assistant to phone the Parliamentary hotline in the mean time.

Hopefully they get their fingers out once your MP intervenes.

That's got to be Bolton office your dealing with.

They simply haven't got a clue..........I'm in the same boat as you re: 0845 numbers, when you call them on your mobile it's about 40p per min and by the time you get through security, your credit runs out. It's easier to get in the country.

I think you are wasting your time ringing them, because they are just call handlers and all they do is argue a toss, refusing to take a message, refusing callback because they don't warrant it....and I will only put you through to a Team Leader if you make a complaint!!! Ok I'll make a complaint, but what are you going to complain about? she asked,YOU you've just said we do not collect arrears when NRP lives abroad:eek::eek:.

...look on your screen they have collected thousands since he thought he escaped and my last payment was yesterday......

The best thing to do is email them, send it to your office and they forward it to Bolton, then you can type pages and pages if you want explaining everything, then they will call you back and it'll be on their bill.

Not saying that you will get anything done mind....they just keep saying I'm your new caseworker, I'll get this sorted and then I never hear a dickiebird from that person again....and the Ops keep saying but we are in the 90 day timescale.....but it's been with Bolton 150 days, no it's starts again at 90 days every time I have to send them paperwork!!!!

Couldn't agree with you more. My case is now back with Bolton- I think-and I just won't deal with them because they are complete imbeciles.

My case is with a senior member of the csa and she can't even get a response out of them. When she does - she told me recently it took them a week to respond to her latest request- they don't even do what she has requested them to do.

My case was 'concluded' with ICE in March. We are now in October and only now ,through my MP and this lady, has the csa got its act together.

Do yourselves a favour. Get your MP involved otherwise you will go insane.
