Tesco Extra Purley - Fuel Pricing Error!!

I filled up my car with diesel around 7:30AM this morning at the filling station at Tesco Extra in Purley, South London.

On the way in, I didn't pay too much notice to the price on the sign by the road as I've become accustomed to the price just spiralling recently .

The price on the pump was 138.9p/L - which I thought that was 'cheap' given that I had paid 141.9p/L at the same filling station last week and prices have been rising since. I was charged 138.9p/L at the kiosk.

When I drove out, I checked the price on the main sign and it was 143.9p/L :j. I think the petrol prices were 139.9p/l (main sign) and 136.9p/L (pump).

Not sure how long this will last - there seemed to be a manager / supervisor on the phone to head office when I was in the kiosk reporting some sort of error...

I was a supermarket PFS manager for a while... my guess is, the price has gone up, the staff have changed the signs, but for some reason it hasn't gone through on the system so the pumps are showing the old price. Happened to us all the time. I think we used to have to close for 20 minutes to do a pump update and keep it legal, but, as long as the advertised signs were higher than the price being charged, we'd be ok to do that.
It'll probably be sorted out before the end of the day so best to get in there while you can if you're in the area.

Hi the price at this PFS hasn't been 138.9p/L for over a month, I think it was 141.9 p/L last week, so it must be some other glitch - either way, it will no doubt be corrected soon, so as you say, get it while you can!!

or the petrol went upto 138.9 and you have filled up with petrol?
