tax credit examination

Hi,
I am just looking for a little reassurance,i have recently split from husband, and informed tax credits, who said they would end my present claim and send me a renewal, which they did,i filled it in and after 3 weeks i have just had a letter saying that my claim is being examined and i need to send them a whole load of paperwork, work contract, bank statements, utility bills, council tax bill, etc,i will send all these things, altough tv license is in hubbys name still,as he still pays it,also want sky bill.
What i was wondering is,why do they need to see my bills and bank statements and is this just routine and i happen to be unlucky because its nearly the end of the tax year?will any of my bills,ie car insurance or sky affect their decision?
any help would be appreciated
