Hi
does anyone know how much it costs to dryclean a wedding dress and will cleaning remove traces of fake tan from underarms, i know it's not going to be cheap but i was thinking of selling it and it needs a clean first, but if the cost of cleaning is so high that i won't make much on the dress i won't bother rushing to get it done
thanks

I've looked into this and, depending where you are, you're looking at about £100.What's yours is mine and what's mine is mine..0

When you are asking dry cleaners for quotes on the cleaning it might be worthwhile asking how much they also charge to clean a ball gown as opposed to a wedding dress...wedding dresses usually start at about £80 but a ball gown can be cheaper.
Its also better to get the dress cleaned as soon as possible as the longer you leave a stain on the dress the the more it may be noticable after the clean.frugal October...£41.82 of £40 food shopping spend for the 2 of us!

Mine was £150 for the cleaning and boxing - very large acid free box lined with acid free paper and they very careful packed it into the box and put the paper in all the layers. The place I took it to is a specialised in delicate items and wedding dresses - he took amazing care of my dress and went over all the stains with me before hand and took me over the dress afterwards.
Don't leave it too long to get it cleaned otherwise the stains won't come out!0 -
I used a local firm and they charged me £85 to clean it.0

Mine cost about £68 for dry-cleaning; their prices depended on the value of the dress, oddly enough. Think it was related to their insurance somehow. My dress was £1000, which put it in the £68 bracket. I had it done twice, once after I bought it as a shop sample, and after the wedding. Was in the North West.0

When a family member got married, we were told that a guide to the cost of dry cleaning would be 10% of the dress cost. This isn't a rule, but the more expensive a dress, normally the more delicate beading etc... so the more it is to get it dry cleaned.0

Wow I wish it was only 10% would make my cleaning bill £3.20 lol
I tried getting mine cleaned as a ball gown but they said they'd have to send it away which would cost more so I'm trying to find a cheaper alternativeMy big fat eBay wedding £1200 budget! 1st September 2012!!

Try a local dry cleaning firm as thye may be more reasonable.
Another option is to try the high street cleaners - when I asked about mine, I was told that my local branch "get a lot of ball gowns in for cleaning as there is a local barracks - and you'd be suprised how many of those dresses are ivory and quite detailed, as ball gown cleaning is half the price of wedding dresses"

It may be worth considering washing it. I have done this in the past for a friend after the local dry cleaners recommended it as it was polyester and some marks would not come out even with dry cleaning. I used the 'wool wash' cycle and washed it inside out and spread it out over the clothes horse in the garden. It just needed a quick press and was fine.0

Cost me £15 as it was put through as an evening dress.
My dress was from the Monsoon wedding range and was £90, however that was in the sale, it was originally £180.
2 companies I rang were going to charge me the normal wedding dress price regardless of the fact that it wasn't a traditional wedding dress.
The last company I rang actually listened to me when I explained my dress, they then asked me to read out the label and put it down as an evening dress charge.Mummy to two girls: October 2013 and February 20160
