Does anybody have a problem with HP 5940 drivers on Win 7 64bit ?
My wifes new laptop won't load the driver for her printer and HP don't provide them as a download any more....
I have tried Windows update but that makes no difference

You could try the HP Universal Printer Driver series (say for PCL5), which occasionally works successfully if HP hasn't provided a 64-bit driver, or one for a 'new' operating system, for a specific printer...0

What about XP 64bit - is that comptible?0 -
No, you want to go for the HP Universal Print Driver for Windows 64-bit PCL 5.
The XP 64-bit drivers were both rare, and rubbish if they existed, and Windows 7 is very different from XP.
If the Universal Printer Driver doesn't work, you could see if HP produced a Vista 64-bit driver for the HP 5940.
Or see if this Microsoft driver works (make sure you click on the 64-bit tab otherwise you'll get the 32-bit driver, which you don't want). (It seems to go to the HP website, but I gave up there!)0 -

Thanks - I managed to get the driver from windows updates eventually - the problem being that every time I tried - it came up with an error - but this cleared and I downloaded the correct driver......0 -
Are you saying that all your printing problems are now over?!0
