First gas bill for 3 years! what to pay?
Options
Hi,
The Gas company recently informed that due to an error they have not billed me for 3 years. I thought the electric and gas was paid together, combined.
I saw that another poster has had the same issue (but for 5 years) but didn't get any responses:

How much is legally, or accepted as the reasonable amount to pay at this stage?
1 years backpayment? None at all?
If anyone can help, I'd really appreciate it.
Many Thanks
Trev

You can only be back billed for the past two years usage, changing to 1 year on 1 July. For more info see www.energy-retail.org.uk/customerbilling.html and click on the Code of Practice For Accurate Bills PDF and FAQS PDF links.0

They should also allow you to spread the repayments over te time the debt was accrued if you ask, ie two years backbilling gives two years to pay the debt off.0

Yip, I work for Npower and any suppplier can only bill you for 1 year and i know npower can extend any arrangement for 2 years to pay it back or they can with agreement with yourself in writing but a hold on that for 1 year and you have to find the money by time the years up, but in the mean time you pay for your consumption only.0
