Dimming rear view mirror

  • That was because you are a moron and were lane hogging. Unless you were overtaking something in the lane to the left of you, you should have been in the left hand lane.
No-one dislikes lane hoggers more than me - but just because somebody is driving in a overtaking lane, doesn't mean they were lane hogging - they could be no more hogging the lane than the car behind, and if they're all in congested traffic, passing other vehicles, so they may no more be hogging an overtaking lane, than the car behind them.

For all we know, the OP was steadily passing traffic in a queue, in an overtaking lane, just as held up as the car behind them - who may merely be one car's space further in the queue of traffic, if they managed to get past the OP.

Anyway, does anyone know if this is normal to only dim rear view and driver's wing mirror? Or is my passenger-side wing mirror faulty?

Yes, my w211 (Google/Wikipedia it) just has a dimmable rear view and driver's door mirror. The passenger's door mirror does not dim.
  • Why would the person behind have to work out a reason for you indicating left and stopping?

Because they are driving so close behind that when I stop they think I am waiting on traffic in front, that they cannot see, so wait for me to move off again.

And reading a lot of posts on these forums do you actually have to ask?

Most of the time motorways around here (in the SE) are just three lanes of traffic.

Was quite nice in France, only two lanes, but empty, so you'd just sit in the inside lane with the cruise control on at your chosen speed, pulling out every few minutes to overtake a truck.

i think a lot of people who are commenting about 'lane hogging' are not regular motorway drivers in congested conditions, the m25 is normally just 3 lanes of traffic travelling at equal speed
