First year contract coming to an end, I'm wondering how figures below favour over other suppliers, out of the country at the moment, little I/net time, appreciate advice please???
You can either refix your contract on the prices* below for a further 12 months or move to a variable tariff.
The prices below exclude VAT, charged at 5% for domestic use.

So what do the comp sites tell you?
We don't know your region anyway, so no way to compare.
No free lunch, and no free laptop ;)
  • I have fixed for another 12 months from 1st Nov. Electricity is less than I am paying now, gas slightly up. But the standing charge is up from £63 each fuel to £84. I have been happy with OVO for past two years so don't want to change anyway. Overall I am very happy.

My advice would be don't waste the limited internet access you do have coming to MSE - just hit the comparison sites and bag yourself the best deal for you ;)

How far in advance did you get the offer to refix? My current contract with Ovo ends on 1st December.

    Thanks

My first year fixed contract with OVO has just ended. The rates they offered me for the following year were not very competitive, so I'm in the process of switching elsewhere.

When they contacted me, it was about 7-8 weeks before the expiry date of the existing agreement. :)

I got the offer to refix on 10th Sep for 1st November fix.

Energyhelpline shows OVO as the cheapest supplier for me based on 18,000 gas 2,200 electricity. I have been happy with OVO anyway so I would have been prepared to pay a bit more than, for example, npower.

You might want to recheck that ;)

Using your figures for the Eastern Region I get:

£974 nPower Bill Saver Nov 2013

    or even better
£665 nPower Energy online 2014 (gas)
£281 nPower Electricity Online 2013 (electricity)
    (Total £946)

    Compared to £1022 ovo

For the London Region I get:

£981 nPower Bill Saver Nov 2013

    or even better
£679 nPower Energy online 2014 (gas)
£281 nPower Electricity Online 2013 (electricity)
    (Total £960)

    Compared to £1032 ovo

The prices you quote are variable and with other conditions. I decided to fix because I think prices could be on their way up this winter. But of course it's a gamble and you may be right.
