I actually took action and switched. quite pleased as i usually don't bother because in the past it hasn't seemed to make a great deal of difference. there always seems to be a catch or a stitch up.
i used simply switch online and hopefully my bill will be about the same or slightly cheaper than BG. also it runs til end of Dec 2014 so should work out.
don't understand how people use yet another site such as quidco or topupcash to get even more savings. bit new to all this.

Its easy to get cash back from quidco etc. you sign up and click on the Scottish power link via quidco. They get some commission for the sale and pass in some of it to you.
Well done on switching, most companies (energy, phone, broadband, tv etc) take the public as fools and overcharge whenever they can, banking in people's ignorance and hoping they won't move away.0 -

I would always check directly with the company concerned before signing up to a cashback deal - sometimes they can match the cashback deal, and you need to be very certain that in the event of any dispute, you will be dealing directly with the energy supplier, and not through a third party0 -
You don't get a comm from both sites! Use a comp site to find the best deal, then use a cashback site to do the actual switch. Simples! No free lunch, and no free laptop0

i should get £40 from simply switch so it is still excellent as far as i am concerned.0

But generally you'll get more via a cashback site, eg £42 from SP at present on a dual fuel switch. No free lunch, and no free laptop0

indeed.
Generally if you call up the company offering quidco cashback they wont have a clue what youre talking about. Presumably any quidco is offered by most companies by a small marketing team somewhere in the corner of the office and no one knows who or where they are
As long as you clear any cookies/history in your browser before using quidco or topcashback you'll be fine.
My scottish power tracked fine a day after I started the switch earlier this week. But I have to say I havent had much luck this year with a couple of claims not trackingGenerally quidco is fine for me apart from these two issues.
As long as you see the quidco as a bonus and not guaranteed, you're fine. Just dont factor it in when comparing costs etc.0
