Removing Gas Cylinder from BBQ Help!

Can someone please tell me how the hell I remove my gas cylinder from my barbeque? I’ve tried pulling it off with no luck. Is there a particular method...
I’ve checked my BBQ instructions but cannot find any reference to it.
Thanks,
Mark

they usually unscrew/twist off0

Ours is a screw type connection, what kind of barbeque/ gas supplier do you use?0

The Cylinders a Calor bought it and the barbeque from homebase, I don’t think you can twist it as I may damage the rubber pipe. It’s got to be a pull type (maybe I'm too weak), I was thinking there’s a special quarter turn pull or something. So annoying.0

I'll have a look tomorrow when the sun is shining ( I Hope) ours is Calor Gas too. I usually leave the fitting of gas bottles to DH and he lets me cook;)0

Are you talking about the gas valve regulator attached to the top of the gas cylinder ??

If so, then you have to position the turn key to a certain position( depends on your type), then push in the turn key whilst pulling regulator upwards. If only everything in life was as reliable...AS ME !!

Yes thats the bit I'm trying to get off. I think i'm going to have to remove the hose pipe from the BBQ end and take the lot to HomeBase so they can do it, damn thing!!!0

I've had a problem like this before, and I think it was due to leaving it out all winter. A gentle tap with the hammer sorted it out!0

You might have ended up with a cheap imported gas regulator like me.
I had problems with mine, the turn lever wasn't taking the inner spindle with it. There is a brass shaft with a flat side to it which has to be in the correct position to allow the regulator to come off.
If you look closely at it, you can usually tell which direction it is pointing in and then try to wiggle the lever to take the shaft with you to the correct place. If only everything in life was as reliable...AS ME !!

agree with robowen, our regulator on a homebase BBQ pulls off exactly same way though not even sure if we have to turn to specific position, just push in the little turn key and away it comes(also you have turned off the key as the gas pressure combined with any winter stiffness may make it hard work)0

I have checked with DH and ours is push on pull off with a lever or key to secure it, like the description above. Hope you get it sorted, our barbeque has lived ouside summer and winter since 1993 and it's never got stuck on.;)0
