Hi all,
I registered on the electoral roll about 4/5 months ago now and got a confirmation letter off my local council. However, I'm still not officially showing on the electoral roll. Does anyone know why this is?

Hi santacruz,
When you say not officially showing do you mean you've visited your council and inspected the roll and you're not there? If so, you'll need to quiz the council.
Incidentally, it can take months for councils to pass information to CRAs so they can update their records.0 -
If you are applying for a credit card (which i guess you are), make sure your bank account has an overdraft as it helps you that little bit more
But hmm maybe go to your local council office? 0 -
Sorry, its not showing up with the credit check companies or 192.com. How long does it take councils to release this info?Trying to spread calmness, understanding and optimism on MSE

The new electoral roll comes out in October which is why the forms go out to check names in Aug/Sept.
To those who aren't on it you do have to complete the form when you get it, its not compulsory to vote but it is compulsory to be on the roll.Lost my soulmate so life is empty.

Well if me not being on the electoral roll pushes my score down just enough to get refused for credit than I don't see the issue of being on an electoral roll?
I've been refused for 2 things now and the only red marker i have on my credit file is the fact im not on the electoral roll i i've missed 2 payments before so just trying to maximise my credit potential :-)Trying to spread calmness, understanding and optimism on MSE

In answer to the OP's question - Is it possible that there is a discrepancy between your name/address on the electoral roll versus the name/address that the credit companies have? For example your address on the electoral roll might be:
Flat 10, Any building
Any street
Any town
AA1 1AA
But the credit companies might have something like:
Any building
10 Any street
Any town
AA1 1AA
This sort of thing can cause problems.0 -
I've just had a look at an old email from the council when i last enquired and she states... 'Your details were uploaded to the major credit companies on the 29th June 2012 to be effective from the 1st July'
So somethings not quite right
