Very interesting, we thought about using it, but just took a simple mobile with a sim from 0044, recon we made 20 or so calls to UK from France and it cost just over £2. For internet we set smart phone to wi-fi only and went to restaurants or bought a coffee at Mcd's

I had a similar experience with Orange Angel in 2013 - I can't remember the details, but I recall getting a very unpleasant surprise when I got my bill after returning to the UK (I had been in Italy for a week). The amount involved was not ruinous, but it definitely proved that this Angel thing doesn't work.

I'm pretty sure I heard an item recently on a BBC4 radio consumer program about Orange Angel - again they confirmed that it can't be relied on - it seems to be pot luck whether you end up with a huge bill or not.

Moral of the story : SWITCH OFF ROAMING WHEN ABROAD.

I had travel angel and had no issues with it when I went to Poland.

I had heard it was a bit dodgy from the reviews on the app store, so each morning I simply reset the in-built data counter in my phone to see if it tallied up. It did, but if you don't trust the app then simply use the in-built data counter instead.

I simply put the phone on airplane mode whenever I wasn't using it.

When I called Orange to actually get my bundle, even the advisor himself advised me to do this and that the app is not gospel.
