speeding fines - time limit ?

Options
Hi this is my first time going on this site for help, my husband was issued with a speeding ticket in Nov 06 which her had 28 days to pay up of else?

However being a man ( no offence please...) he forgot and suddenly out of the blue we get a court summons for non payment and a hearing date.

I thought that they had a certain time limit for this to go thru not 3/4 months down the line.

Can anyone please kindly advise me so that i can get this matter sorted out. Should we have recieved the summons earlier and appeal or do we have to go to court/ settle out of court by doing a post guilty plea.

Thanks to all of you in advance.

Highly stressed..................

When the speeding ticket was issued did you get it within 14days of the offence?

Try https://www.pepipoo.com which maybe able to help you and answer your questions

It maybe that he will just have to go to court unless he can speak to them and see if he can pay now before it gets to court - assuming he is paying up?

They get 6 months to lay the information at court, from the date the offence was detected, IIRC.
If you lend someone a tenner and never see them again, it was probably worth it.
  • thanks for your help and advise.
