Warning: Ebay and concert tickets

Even though people don't like it, tickets for concerts etc are sold on ebay. I bought tickets today for the War of the Worlds in December through ticketmaster. The tickets arrived by email to print off. It occured to me that if 'scum' got hold of email tickets, whats to stop them printing 60 of them off selling them for how ever many pounds to different people. These people wouldn't complain as they would receive they're tickets within a couple days. they would only realise it was a scam when they tried to use the ticket and it was denied cos the scammer has sold so many of them. I don't even think you need to register an address with ticketmaster as the tickets are sent via email to print. So it's just a word of warning to be weiry when buying tickets on ebay.

surely ticketmaster etc would have already thought of the above and built safeguards into their software to prevent it happening..

it says you can print as many as you want off incase you lose them. But only the first ticket scanned at the event (i.e 1st person to get there) will be allowed in.

WHAT IF I PRINT MORE THAN ONE COPY OF MY TICKET OR A PHOTOCOPY OF MY TICKET IS MADE? Only the first scan of the barcode on your ticket will be allowed entry to the event -- so please protect it as you would any other ticket. If more than one copy were to arrive, the bar code scanner will alert the attendant that the ticket has already been scanned.
  • this in effect is the same as sellers selling items they don't have. A paypal chargeback coukd possibly not even be made as it may be months after the buyer received the email
