Gotta admit, I find younger women can be a bit intimidating and b!tchy in offices. You'll either get real sweethearts who you can get along with and hug from day one or they'll be real evil towards any bloke who doesn't shout and have a bit of muscle in his arms.
These days though most offices have a combination of men and women. I worked in a place years ago that wasn't an office but we had plenty of women there. They were very clicky and made life difficult for me and a few others. Only when a couple of new people started with us did we feel normal again when one of them openly said "it's very clicky around here isn't it?!". We suddenly realised we were not imagining it. Few months later the two ring leaders finally got the sack!
In general I've no problem working with women. I've had some female colleagues who have been the best colleagues I could wish for but I've also been on the other side of the fence with some of the b*tch!est and that does make life hard. The only thing I can think of when your in that situation is don't be pushed around by them or 'hen pecked' as they'll walk all over you. For some reason I've always found female managers easier to get on with than male managers too. I did have one who thought she could be difficult but we'd end up having a spat before both walking away and then the next day she'd be as sweet as pie again.0 -
