Ooooh a fellow Mr Site-er :hello:

Where would you put the links, will you have a page called 'my favourite links' or something like that? I've been thinking about link swaps for a while now, can't decide whether or not to do it, or where to put the links :think:Bulletproof0 -
Hiya
I was thinking of adding a page called something like my favourite links and adding some on there. I was toying with the idea whether to add a links page aswell but I decided if I dont add too many then it could increase traffic to my site.
Fingers crossed thats how it will work anyway!!0 -
Most people have a links page. Just be a bit careful about who you link to and from. Some people set up link farms - sites that just exist to have thousands of links. Google has got quite intelligent so I would only link to related sites. Generally if you provide links to sites your customers might be interested in you'll be OK - if you have links for their own sake or to dubious things like gambling sites you could be penalised.0

I run a site and I find that the links page regularly rates in my top 8 most visited pages on the site (and I have about 450 pages at the moment, and growing).
There's no doubt quality links can help boost your site - many search engines will find your site or pages via inlinks from other, decent sites, so it can help you get your site indexed more quickly in the search, and also help boost your page ranking so that the search engines view your site as more relevant therefore higher in natural search results.
I'm happy to swap links as I know how effective it can be - pm me if interested. Mine is a clothing/equestrian website, but we take the view that if a link is good, it's good, whether it's related to clothing or not (plus we like links that aren't direct competitors!)
EquinutPosts are not monitored but signatures are!0 -
I too would be happy to swap links, I sell power/stunt kites and garden windsocks amongst other things, pm me if interested."There is a light that never goes out"0

Try the Mr site take away box, it costs £30 and you do get a good looking site out of it. You can also accept credit card payments and its really easy to use. Honest.
Both mine and Tru's sites are built with mr site and I think they both look good. If my business takes off (fingers crossed) then I will get a sign custom designed but at the moment I am really pleased.

Another thing to try cooltrikerchick is to see if there are any small web design companies in your area who might do it in return for a % of your online sales for either a fixed period of time or until a specific figure has been reached. I've done it with a company once and it seemed to work well for both of us as I wanted my cut of the cash sooner rather than later so I was keen to promote the site more.
Regarding links, what you really want to do is get high quality one way links to your site. Reciprocal links are all well and good if they're relevant to your site but can sometimes work against you depending what sites you're trading links with.0
