    ...Anyone who hasn't been living in a cave for the last 30 years will know that money transfers, including international transfers, are all electronic these days and cost the banks next to nothing. ...

    But like I said; since you have no idea of the country concerned, the number of the withdrawals, the amounts involved, or indeed what kind of charges we're talking about.

    Besides, it seems rather irrelevant to talk about money transfers, when it appears from the responses above, that the OP is talking about charges for cash withdrawals, Which are, of course, physical and not electronic transactions.

    Ahh the "it's in the small print" defence. . ...

    Not exactly 'small print' is it, when I can type a few words into Google and seconds later discover that;

    Charges for withdrawals abroad:
    • 2.75% currency conversion charge will be applied on any non-sterling transaction
    • 2% (£2 minimum) will be charged for cash withdrawals from overseas ATM or over the counter or for the purchase of travellers’ cheques or foreign currency.

    I'm planning to write a letter to my bank asking for a refund as a gesture of good will. Hopefully it'll work and i'll keep you all updated on my progress.

    Well you can give it a whirl. However, given that you're talking about multiple charges for doing the same thing repeatedly over the course of a year, the Co-Op might well think that your're extracting the micturate. But who knows? Stranger things have happened.
