0% interest purchase card credit limit

I need to spend 10k and was hoping to do it via a 0% credit card to buy me some time, but it's only just dawning on me that the credit limit might be a spanner in the works.
Anybody know - in a decent credit rating scenario - what the maximum limit that I can hope for is and how and to what can I up it to.
Or

Would it be better to spend on current credit card and opt for a balance transfer? - Is there a limit to the number of balance transfers you can have?

cheers

  • 10k is probably unlikely, even without knowing about your circumstances.

Give a few more details on cricumstances and someone may be able to advise on the best strategy for funding whatever it is you can get for 10k.

Read the OP's other posts and you'll know there's not a chance. He's been asking questions about cards for 2 years now and seemingly in the same position without actually getting a card.
  • Good spot. In which case, OP, I would suggest £250 limit with Luma and interest free on purchases until Jan 2013 is about the best you could hope for.
  • Good work Inspector Clouseau and Kato but how about letting those who have something useful to say, have a go.
Unlike some, I have better things to do than live my life on a forum which is why you shouldn't be looking at questions previously asked but focus on those being asked.

So jog on and play detective with someone else's old posts - preferably your own and get a life.

I've asked Martin Lewis to remove the functionality inmmediately.

In the meantime, unless your situation has dramatically improved (in which case it would have been helpful if you'd mentioned it), then my answer still stands. Getting a low limit sub prime card would appear to be your best option.

A tip for next time - the more information you provide, the more accurate the answer you'll receive.

Bizarre response, particularly in the context of zx81 who posted a helpful response and then revised it to be even more helpful in your particular circumstances.

You really do need to post the detail of your credit history before asking a question about what kind of card/limit you get. Given you didn't, it was a good idea to look back at your previous posts.
  • It wasn't particularly aimed at zx81 who, yes, has been quite helpful - so apologies there.
I have a good credit rating and a balance transfer card that is due to be paid off in Jan.
That aside, I now need to spend around 10k and was hoping a 0% purchase credit card would be the answer. However, without a high enough credit limit from the off - that's not going to work.

    Therein lies my dilemma
  • zx81 - I have no issue with access to someone's older posts - just how they are used to come to wrong assumptions - as in this case
