British Gas Burglar Alarm Pros and Cons?

Hi

Has anyone got any feedback on this solution from British Gas

http://www.britishgas.co.uk/products-and-services/safe-and-secure/starter-kit.html?bglink_id=iymbii10164

or this one from Dyno which is also part of British Gas?

http://www.dyno.com/consumer/burglar-alarms-systems/alert-200-alarm

And how do these solutions compare with the likes on Pyronix, Visonic or Alexor wireless alarms?

So you want to run parallel threads on two different forums for what purpose? Is it to get the legwork done for a school, uni, work exp project etc as has been seen here before?

I can't see for the life of me why you would want to buy a burglar alarm system from a drain company or a gas supplier. Mind you I don't see the point of buying my gas via M&S or Sainsburys or my kitchen via Tescos or my bathroom via Next either.

All the boxes will be much of a muchness in cost as will the sensors as will the cabling.

    Cheers

  • My parents had a BG monitored alarm system a few years back and it wasn't a bad system or service. The only problem is that the system wasn't wired so they were charged a service fee every year for someone to com round and change the batteries on the PIR and occasionally dust the alarm box.

We had a 4 PIR wired system with modem for text alerts supplied and installed by local firm for £400 and think it's excellent. Service is better and the product is better - so much so my parents dumped BG and had a similar system installed - plus I think their rates for the monitored service were cheaper than BG too.

One bit of advice I would give anyone is go with a wired system over wireless everytime - one bit of interference and you wake the whole street up! Less running costs over time too.
