After working 9 years for the same company dh was told on friday he would be made redundant. He has 3 months to go before he leaves at beg dec.
Can anyone advise what we should be claiming, we already receive a little help with ctx and hb. I have add who has high care and mobility and i get carers allowance for her.
Which benefit should dh be applying for, and will the £4300 redundancy money affect us receiving benefits?

OH should receive contribution based JSA for 26 weeks. He will need to make a joint claim.
If you have savings below £6000 you will be entitled to HB (up to your local housing allowance) and Council tax benefit. Any savings between £6000 and £16000 is tapered)
Are you receiving Child Tax credit? If you are then inform them of change of circumstances. If not then make a claim.)
You can put your details into the benefit checker on www.turn2us.org.uk for an estimate of your entitlement (don't forget to use your local housing allowance for your rent as that is the maximum you would be entitled to.
I believe your Carer's allowance will be counted as income for any means tested benefits but you will be entitled to additional amounts because you re a carer.
Hope your OH finds a new job soon.0
