Apologies in advance for spelling mistakes, typiing one handed at themoment!!! Also not sure if this is theright place for this query.
I recently visited one of our local pubs for a drink beforea night out. I had drunk 1 pint ofcider, so was in no way at all drunk or under the influence. Cutting a long story short, I went to theladies and on the way back noticed that someone had spilled a drink on thefloor, there was a wet floor sign over the spill, but it hadn’t been cleaned upproperly, it was still wet and there was broken glass on the floor. So, I went around the wet floor sign and nextthing I know, I’m on the floor with a broken wrist. An ambulance was called and I went tohospital.
After x-rays were taken it showed not only had I broken bothbones in my wrist, one was shattered into several pieces and neededsurgery. Thiswas a double blow, not only was I going to have surgery, I was also not goingto be able to go on our family holiday abroad, booked for the Thursday and offwork for 6 weeks, followed by 6 months of intensive physio.
I wonder if someone could advise if I could make a claimagainst the pub for not cleaning the wetfloor properly? We have contacted one ofthe ambulance chase firms to get their opinion, but asthere was a wet floor sign, they have no liability. Is this right? Does it absolve them of allresponsibility?? They hadn’t cleaned thefloor properly, so it was still wet.
The pub have filed their accident report with head office asit’s a RIDDOR thing so I can get a copy of that if needed.
Advice please??

Try another no win no fee firm and if they say no then decide whether you are prepared to pay for your own solicitor's advice.0

There are a number of factors that are currently unknown, how long ago had the spillage happened? How long ago had they put up the wet floor sign?
At this point for all we know they had been told, immediately gone in to put the sign up, gone out to get the mop/ bucket and dustpan and whilst getting that you've gone in and had your accident.
You can try another ambulance chaser as they do vary in their threasholds for taking on cases but on the surface of it it does sound as if the pub had been responsible by putting up the sign and you simply werent careful enough0 -

the spillage happened in the time it took me to go to the loo. they had made SOME effort to clean up, but they hadnt got it all up. there was also broken glkass on the floor, which i had cut my wrist on also.
I dont feel that I wasnt careful, I made apoint of going the long way around a wet floor sign to miss the STILL WET floorMarried the absolute love of my life on Sunday May 6th and I couldnt be happier!!!0 -
As I say, speak to another ambulance chaser and given the full details they may feel it is a case worth taking on.
In life however true accidents do happen and on the surface this sounds a case you are fairly unlikely to win0
