LVI - Low Velocity Impact

Hi all, I am not sure where to post this, so thought I would try here.
I was involved in an accident where I was hit from behind back in Feb of this year. I suffered mild whip lash and some lower back pain, and have a pers injury claim going through as a result. The other party is claiming LVI which is being disputed (the rear bumper on my car had to be replaced due to the damage caused so this gives some indication of the speed as it was at least 20mph if not more. I initially attended a medical and they diagnosed whip lash etc, but I am now being asked to attend yet another medical which is not until Oct of this year, I am concerned as my symptoms are almost gone now as expected so what is the purpose of another medical.....?

When you were diagnosed was it by your own GP or hospital??
At the medical they will go into long term effects and things such as what extra care help or support Did you need due to the car crash.
They also ask questions like when it hit you did you jolt forward, backwards etc etc. they ask questions to see how long your life was effected because of the crash. Its not a medical just to see if you are recovered.0 -
This is to see whether you have an long term effects from the collision. Usually you see a private Doctor engaged by the insurers or the claim company. The Doctor examines you, asks you some questions about how you felt and for how long. This gives an indication as to if you actually had whiplash and if so the severity of it. Then whether you still suffer from it.
Nothing else to worry about. I had one following a 70mph+ RTA several years ago and another one no doubt soon due to a MNC.
I hope that helps.0 -
Quick update. The defendants solicitors are just stalling, and now, since a handover of responsibilities they have come back with an offer (over a year later), and my solicitors have declined with a counter offer. Apparently the delays but Mr Jobsworth and LV have cost the insurers over £10,000 in costs, which will be past on to the public no doubt with increased insurance costs. Mr Jobsworth should be fired, its people like him that generically put up the cost of our insurance.0

It is because of people that see any accident as a claim for a PI claim.
Once again, the minority have spoilt it for the majority. You are going through the mill because of the antics of the others.
On a personal note, accidents do happen, that is life. My belief is that unless someone deliberately intended to hurt another, accidents should not automatically mean 'can I get some compo?'0 -
Quick update - For the record the claim has now been resolved in my favour. OK this has taken over a year but finally they have admitted liability and settled in full. Biggest learning point for me is patience.0
