Washer Dryer problems

Hello,
My washing machine was plumbed in yesterday, it hasn't been connected for around 6 weeks but it worked fine before this.
It stopped part way through a cycle with water still in it. It doesn't have a drain button so I had to manually empty it.
I checked the filter and it had a few coins and some fluff in it so I cleared that. I then put some clothes back in and put it on spin only, it spun the water out of them and out of the machine.
I then put it onto dry for 2 hours, just had a look and the clothes are soaking and there's some water in the machine again.
It looked as though the drying hadn't finished as the door was looked, also the active rinse button was flashing (it was doing this before when the washing stopped mid cycle)
The hose connects to the u bend at the right height according to the manual and there are no kinks in the tube. Plus the water emptied when on spin, so I was guessing the filter was the issue.
It's a Candy CMD146
Does anyone have any idea of the problem?

First thing to do is to check it works through a wash cycle. Wash and dry cycles are completely different in many ways.
The drying issue could be a blocked condensate chamber or a faulty water valve by the sounds of it.

the only thing is i'm scared of putting it on a wash cycle again, incase it doesn't drain the water again...
draining it manually meant lots of water on my new floor, which was laid because I had damp0 -

also the dryer uses the same tubing as the washer does for water to exit0 -
There should be a drain hose to enable you to drain it into a tray without soaking the floor. No free lunch, and no free laptop0

there isn't a drain hose. I had to tip the washing machine back and unscrew the filter and catch the water in a bowl. pretty hard doing that on my own
i unscrewed the waste hose from the waste pipe and bought this down to floor level but nothing came out (this enters the machine right by the floor)0 -
Once you have removed the plinth to access the filter, removal of the filter should drain the machine out into a shallow tray. There should be no need to tip anything., as the filter is located at the base level. No free lunch, and no free laptop0

hi, it does drain into a shallow tray, but if i did that it would take forever as there is so much water in there and the tray is tiny
when i come to upgrade my washing machine i will look for one that has a manual drainage hose!!0 -
i just tried to spin it altho it had water in there and it spun fast but didn't put out any water at all and then started smelling hot
does that indicate motor problem?0 -
More likely a pump problem or drain hose blockage.
Is this a new machine? Of so it's under warranty.
Or if you've moved house recently, how did you move the machine? Were the transit bolts fitted before and removed after? No free lunch, and no free laptop0 -
If it isn't draining at all then the most probable reason, is as said, either a faulty drain pump or a blockage of some sort.
Check carefully on the pump as 5p pieces are perfect for blocking drain hoses just at the connection between the pump housing and the drain hose on a lot of machines.
It should just be an Askoll pump in it most probably that can be checked with an electrical meter for continuity etc.
