I was wondering whether anyone knows the thresholds for childcare grants. I am hoping to start university in September and I have one child. My partner earns around 34000 per annum.
I have looked at the websites but there isn't any info...
Thank you

Hi,
I am not sure about the actual threshold but I would imagine that you will be able to claim something back towards childcare through either the childcare grant or through the childcare element of working tax credit. I do know that you are not allowed to claim both - sorry I realise that the answer is a bit vague!
Hope thats helped in some way - you're best bet might be to contact your Student Services department of your local council and ask them - they can be helpful sometimes!!

you can only claim the childcare element of working tax credits if you are both working over 16 hours each.
For the university childcare grant I have looked in the student finance leaflet and it does say that it depends on your partners income but doesn't mention the figures0 -
I am a first yr student and I applied for the child care grant and was told I am not entitled to anything. I have 4 children and my DH earns approx £24k.Sam0

My friends husband was on £14k and she was refused any help with childcare. The cut off point for earnings is very low, about £5k.0
