Ready Steady Cook GM5000H

Bought a ready steady cook food chopper early this year and all has been fine until I chopped up an orange in it today, when I went to clean it out I noticed the plastic jug had gone cloudy then I find that the plastic has been eaten into by the orange, so this means the wrong type of plastic must (my opinion) have been used so then I looked at where it is made.......... any guess? China, yet again more utter sh*te from China, when will the UK open its eyes and stop bringing this land fill into this country and bring back our manufacturing industry where things were made with the right materials that also lasted. Any one who has one of these food choppers that have gone cloudy may wonder where the plastic has gone, well you more than likely have consumed it! So who do I send this to, it needs testing, its not fit for food preparation so the people who have made it should be dangling from a tall tree with a short rope!

  • 1) If it has been affected as you say, then it is not of satisfactory quality and you should return it to the retailer.

    2) Why on earth are you complaining about people in the UK buying goods from China. You bought it! If you have som uch issue, why did you buy one made abroad in the first place?

More a case of the oils in the orange have affected the plastic. Many plastics are affected by orange oil, it is very volatile and surprisingly reactive. If you want good, get a metal/glass/ceramic bowl.

Have to say, a unit branded after a trashy daytime telly show doesn't scream longevity and quality to me, so why you thought it would be made in the UK when even all the main brands are Chinese now is between you and Peter Bazalgette (who invented the show format and sold it worldwide) ;-)

I bet you're known for your hyperbole. Lots of plastics are affected by lots of foods. It doesn't affect their function. Find something worthwhile to complain about.

Some of the worlds best medical equipment is developed and made in China, equipment that saves millions of lives a year.

How incredibly shortsighted you must be OP to assume that everything made in China is cheap sh**te.
