Probate/settling estates with an Interim Death Certificate?

I'm trying to sort out my dads estate after he died recently.
As it was due to an industrial disease we haven't got a proper death certificate, only an interim one until the coroner sorts out a proper one which could take over a year.
Has anyone else been in a similar situation as there are a couple of life insurances that need sorting along with pensions etc which my mum will need paying ASAP.
cheers

Insurance policies might refuse to pay out if they think the outcome might invoke a clause in their policy e.g. Suicide but pension providers will probably be satisfied with an interim certificate. All you can do is check the paperwork or contact them and ask the question. Hopefully it will be straightforward for you all. Best of luck.Eat food. Not too much. Mostly plants - Michael Pollan

We had an interim certificate with my dad and I don't remember there being any problems. In some cases they just wanted to see a copy of the final death certificate when we received it.
Sorry for your loss.0 -
Cheers for the advice etc.
Made a load of phone calls this morning and all of them were ok about it.0 -
Hi, I'm a bit late replying but I was also in a similar situation and the life insurance company were fine with paying out on an interim death certificate. I was surprised as I thought it would be a long drawn out process, but actually we received the money very quickly once the decision was made.

Everything seems to be going along normally now, only problem we had was with a jumped up branch manager at Halifax who said it was against policy to accept an interim certificate. Finally got him to ring the Halifax Bereavement service who put him straight but he was very reluctant to sort it.
Will be putting a complaint in against him and looking at moving bank accounts now due to the way he handled the situation.0 -
Looking back to your first post I am astonished at your coroner estimating the inquest will take 12 months!0
