3rd day not receiving calls on talktalk

hi, wondering if anyone else had experienced this on talktalk or another landline provider?

last received a call from a non-talktalk number on friday morning around 08:00, since then whenever a non-talktalk number tries to ring us they get an error message saying "sorry, this service is no longer available"

talktalk customers can get through fine, but anyone on another line (BT, Virgin, or any mobile callers) cannot. outbound cals not affected.

rang CS friday afternoon and they performed a few line tests and said nothing was wrong, i rang again and told them to re-open the fault as the problem persists.

they then said an engineer would call monday (tomorrow) morning, that meant 3 days withough receiving calls from most people!

they promised to setup diverts to my partners mobile but guess which calls were diverted? yup, only talktalk numbers, who were getting through anyway! rang them again and again they said they could do no more until the engineer calls.

this is ridiculous, i've now gone 3 days without receiving the majority of my calls, having had a baby last wednesday i've missed calls from midwives too, and a whole heap of friends and family ringing from within the UK and abroad who are trying to get through to congratulate us on the child.

assuming the engineer sorts this mess tomorrow, do I get some sort of compensation?

No compo on a residential contract, as no service level agreement exists, but you should ask for (and get) a credit for the days without service.
No free lunch, and no free laptop ;)

No actual advice, but their Customer Services are a complete bunch of muppets. If the problem is that only TT callers get through, it cannot be a problem with your line - it is a problem with their service - and doing a line test would not give any useful info one way or the other

  • My Aunt had a similar problem with Talk Talk when her broadband was activated. She could get no incoming calls, only call out. It took about a week before TT fixed it. She left TT as soon as she could afterwards.
  • thanx for replies guys, a (rude) engineer arrived yesterday, and after spending an hour inside the property (doesnt take a genius to realise the fault couldn't have been inside) he finally made his way outside and got the problem fixed another hour or so later.

will ring CS later to discuss some sort of credit on my account as 3 days without incoming calls is no laughing matter.

too right, they are total muppets, completing their tests and closing the fault on friday without even asking me if the problem still persists was just plain stupid.

unfortunately i only recently agreed to an 18 month contract extension so i'm tied up for a while to come, but cant wait to switch after this period, had enough of this rubbish now, the price may be real good but service and quality is no good. extremely slow speeds at night, its like using dial-up at times
