Hi
I'm looking to buy a new laptop, I know a lot about desktops, but very little re laptops
Dixons are selling this for 399 http://www.dixons.co.uk/martprd/product/seo/853219?camp_id=hphot4
It seems very good value for money, but I as I'm not too hot on laptop specs, just wondering if ye think that this is good value, or should I spend the few extra hunderd quid and geta dual core?
I'm only be using it for surfing/emal/video/music/office XP, I know this spec is more than enough, but I want to to last, and don't want to upgarde for a few years at least!
Cheers

The specs are fine for the use you have described but the price and especially the make of this one is not great at all.
I would recommend looking at the toshibas ebuyer is offering now. You have missed on some great Dell offers recently (on grabbit board) but Dell apparently do these offers every now and then.
Advent has got an awful reputation in terms of reliability and customer support.Do I want it? ......Do I need it? ......What would happen if I don't buy it??????0 -
From personal experience I would also avoid dixons and go for a dell or a toshiba too.
The Toshiba is my favorite brand of laptop although my last two have been Dells due to price.
cheers,
worto.
edit - oh & if you've misssed a decent dell deal don't worry there will be another one in a few days - there always is.0 -
i'd agree....dixon's are all good & well on price but once things start going wrong with stuff you buy sometimes it can turn into a complete nightmare from past experienceWe all die. The goal isn't to live forever, the goal is to create something that will0
