My dog is insured with Tesco, for 11 pound a month although I initially put his age in wrong and when I rang up to change it they said that when I renew next year it will go up (he's almost 9 and I first put him it at 6, don't know how that happened!), so we'll see. I only have to pay 60 pound excess, no % of the the fee, which works better for me.
It's usually when a dog turns 9 that the excess increases and the 20% of vet fees kicks in, as you will probably find when next year's renewal comes in for your dog.
I don't know any company that doesn't take the 20% of vet fees for a dog aged over 9 years.0
