That's it then, they doubt your identity.:rotfl:

Joking aside, it would have been one person's job dealing with the A2 and someone else dealing with your other query and they likely would have been unaware of anything going on.

As benefitbaby says, you should contact them anyway.

You might find they decide not to bother completing the A2 process in view of the claim ending anyway.

They always used to send reminders for an A2 not being returned, so there may have been two items of mail not received.

You could have stayed on is until you started earning we were advised to do this when oh went self employed, even though your working your not actually earning anything so tax credits may get sus.
You would just then have needed to declare any earnings to is when you got any.

As a lone parent the OP cannot remain on IS if she is working 16 hours or more a week, regardless of the amount of earnings (or lack thereof). This is because at 16 hours WTC kick in.

The OP may want to consider only doing 15 hours a week until business picks up.

But shes not actually in reumerative work as she as no clients and is not being paid.
  • The 16 hours and the amount earned are 2 tests and both have to be met to continue getting IS.

So if OP is working 15 hours a week and earning only £30 from s/emp this is OK she meets the IS qualifying criteria.
But, if OP is working 16 hours and earning £0 she will not meet the qualifying criteria for IS and would instead have to claim WTC.

    'in expectation of payment'
  • Income Support is for people who:

[*]are between age 16 and the age they can get Pension Credit and
      [*]have a low income and
[*]work less than 16 hours a week (or a partner working less than 24 hours a week) and
[*]are not in full-time study (but there are some exceptions) and
[*]do not get Jobseeker's Allowance or Employment and Support Allowance and
[*]do not have savings above £16,000 and
      [*]live in Great Britain.
All have to be met to qualify for IS. This is not at odds with the link (re; WTC) that you provide.

'Work done setting a business up is not generally classed as being done in expectation of payment. A person will only reasonably expect to be paid for work done once the business is up and running.'
So if she gets no clients she can still claim wtc indefinately i take it.
I would have got the clients first then given up is.
Otherwise she will be in a right pickle with money.

The OP has registered as a self/emp cleaner, she will be advertising, delivering/putting up flyers, negotiating with clients - all in expectation of payment via cleaning contracts.
