Natwest Platinum Upgrade Offer Questions

in Credit cards
I currently hold a Natwest Standard Credit card which I don't use much, but keep for 'safety'. I have recently received a mailing offering to upgrade me to a Platinum card which includes some minor benefits. Reading through the t&c's the conditions don't seem to be the same as those advertised on the Natwest website.

For example the interest rate is 18.9% on my agreement but 16.9% on the website.
Anyway, to get to the point I'd like to get some real advantage out of the upgrade. What do you think the chances of me successfully requesting 0% on purchases (like a new card holder would get)?
Also does anyone know how people are selected for these mailings? I'm obviously not unique in receiving this mailing but just wondered...

Hi,
The only way to find out if there are any benefits to the upgrade is to ring natwest and ask them.
Tell them you are not sure if its worth the hassle, that you might cancel the account etc etc and you should find them tripping over themselves to offer you a good deal. eg 0% balance transfers etc.
As to why you were "selected". Probably because as you say, you do not use the card that much. Meaning they hope to make some money out of you.

Has anyone experience of getting NatWest to give a 0% Balance transfer? Their current offers only have low BT and 0% purchases but I have a big credit limit on a NatWest card that I am not using for stoozing.
Many thanks

I've been using my Nat West Classic card to top up my BTS using their Money Transfer Service.
They will transfer up to 75% of your Credit Limit (minimum £250) to any UK bank or Building Society with no transaction fee or handling charge with one phone call.
There is a separate number for Classic, Gold and Platinum cards.Old Saying Once bitten twice shy

Afahmaep - they may allow this without charges, but at what interest rate (two separate things) as if it is not 0% it is no use for stooze.
Many thanks

I mean that I put my Nat West CC Account in Credit and only apply to transfer funds out of it once it is showing a positive balance.
I have done it 3 times this year without incurring any interest charges at all.
Twice for £2100, I've only got a £2900 limit(75% max BT) and once for £500.
Effectively creating a debt that can be transferred onto another card once the 0% period is up or settled in full if none is available.Old Saying Once bitten twice shy
