VW Touran - warrant and repairs question
Options
Hi everyone.
I have a VW Touran which is still in the 3 years warranty (just over 1.5 years left), and over the past few weeks I have started to get an error message on the display "Engine Fault - Workshop".
Recently (over the past few days) this has become more frequent. So I called my local VW dealer, and the lady booked me in for Thursday!
I just wanted to ask. Is it quite normal to have just a long waiting time for cars that are under warranty? I need to use a car everyday to travel to work and back, and because of this, now I cannot use it at all until I take it to the garage on Thursday. Shouldn't I take it to the garage straight away and they give me a courtesy car while they find the time to look & repair mine?
Sorry very new to this so excuse if silly question.
Many thanks

I'm more concerned that you have chosen to ignore a warning message and, in the voice of the M&S voice over lady, not just an ordinary warning message..
A bulb out message or an engline light coming on every now and then I can understand, but not when it contains the words "engine" and "fault.."
Anyway, telling off over: It'll probably be something like a crank sensor or glow plug/spark plug etc..0 -
The message wasn't been ignored, just didnt have the time to call them, due to holidays and being out of work for other reasons.
Now I am back, and need the use of a car, so was just wondering if this is "usual", nearly a week wait for an appointment, on a car that is still under warranty0 -
Its taken you weeks to book it in so waiting a few days wont hurt.
You may have caused more damage already.
Garages dont have fleets of cars sitting idle just in case a customer needs one.

So, ignored it then.. lol.0 -
Funny.. (not) It's clever is it not , to make someone feel small?
I asked a question in relation to waiting times - if anyone knew this usually takes this amount of time.
I didn't ask if I should have gone to VW sooner having "ignored" the message, I had my reasons why.0 -
Booking time is luck of the draw sometimes I've found. I don't think 4 working days is that bad in my experience.
The warranty covers repairs, but doesn't entitle you to replacement transport unfortunately (a common misconception), unless you've actually broken down at roadside and get a short term hire from the RAC etc0
