Is there any way out of an overtime clause?

    You don't have to sign a contract for it to be binding, just work it. If you don't like it then you have the inalienable human right to hand in your resignation and walk.

    signing or not you are still bound by the terms, and if you leave you get no money so not much of a right to leave is it, you either take this job or you starve.

    I'm not saying it is or isn't, hearing some of the cases that get won...a cat strings to mind...I would not rush so quick to say it wouldn't be won if it came in front of the court.

    I haven't seen any of your previous posts but would you not be able to speak to your manager (or the next one up) and say that you cannot do overtime with only 10 mins notice due to you having to rearrange commitments. Let them know that you are willing to do some overtime but if they could give you a certain number of hours notice. It might not make a difference but it's worth a try :)

    As I recall it, that "case" as presented by the politician wasn't actually true.

    and others...but this case, it was true in the sense that a cat helps to show a family life, Miss May was trying to say the cat was the reason alone, instead of it only being part of the evidence that was used.

    Oh they have that covered in the contract as well, "Short notice" is mentioned.
