Utility bills in joint names

I have a question about utilities bills as a general.
Background: Me and my partner are soon moving into our first place together.
So my questions are:
1) Will we be allowed to have the bill in joint names?
2) Will a credit search be performed at the time of us signing up with the utility company, and will payment for the bill show up on my credit report in the future?
3) If the bill is in joint names, will I have a finanical link with my partner?
Thanx!

You can have two names on the account but that doesn't alter the fact that you are both jointly and severally liable for the whole bill, or any debt.No free lunch, and no free laptop

Not specific to your question but there's a lot of good advice on this website worth looking at before you take the plunge - https://www.advicenow.org.uk/living-together/0

A credit search can only be performed if you explicitly give permission for it. If they haven't asked, they won't.0
