pic1 refers to the Basque only policy of Athletic Bilbao (although the photo is actually of Sunderland who play in a similar kit!)
pic2 is of the Nervion River and the text refers to the "The Guggenheim Effect"
pic3 is Calatrava's Zubizuri Bridge and The Spanish Civil War started in Bilbao with small uprisings suppressed by the Republican forces. On 31 August 1936, the city suffered the first bombing.
pic4 is part of the Guggenheim Museum
