Sky Broadband Cust Service are the pits

I thought about signing up for Sky Broadband last year on their mid package at £5 month. However it wasn't available in my exchange but they could send me their equivalent service for exchanges without their equipment at £18 a month. As I'm only paying £13 a month at present I naturally declined.

Last month, I noticed they had reduced this price to £5 as well (presumably not many people had signed up for it) so after a few double checks I got the MAC (transfer) code from my existing supplier and I signed up for it on 20/3.

Last weds (28/3) my exisiting supplier was switched off but no new equipment or software had arrived from sky. I eventually managed to speak to someone today who told me the equipment had not been sent out yet and would take another 3 -5 days to arrive!! So probably well after Easter.

No one could explain in any sensible way why they had messed up so badly, nor could they just pop the stuff in the post special delivery to get it to me tomorrow. If this is how they handle new subscribers then I don't want to be a subscriber.

I've cancelled the order now and will revert back to my original supplier (or if I've time have a look on the chat forums about other suppliers) but that'll take a few days as well now because I have to have yet another MAC code.

I'm fuming because I'm back on dial up now for a week - its so slow! And all because the numpties at Sky can't do things properly.

Sky don't send out the router for the connect service until BT inform them that the service has been changed over, don't ask me why but they do.

It may be worth trying again when you exchange has been unbundled.
Have a look at Samknows for updates.

    Penrhyn thanks.

That seems a very silly way to transfer people, especially when I was told there would only be a few hours disruption to my service, I had paid for the router & signed up for the service. Its not like I am a bad credit risk.

However, in this particular case, they hadn't even sent out the router despite BT transfering it last week.

I'm one of the "numpties" who works for Sky broadband and just wanted to clarify a few things.

If you signed up for Sky on the 20/03 you will have been informed that sky broadband takes up to 15 working days to be connected. You should not have cancelled your original broadband contract, just requested a MAC code. I'm afraid this mess up is not down to Sky (for once) but your original supplier for cancelling your service or yourself for asking for the service to be cancelled.
