There are a variety of benefits but these are payable based on their individual circumstances so more info would be needed.
However here are a few to consider:
Means tested:
Guarantee Pension Credit
Housing Benefit
Council Tax Benefit
Non-means tested:
Savings Pension Credit
Attendance Allowance
Carer's Allowance (not payable in cash for but can increase the amount of GPC payable)
If they are willing you may want to contact their local Age UK branch to request one of their team visit and do a full benefit check and to assist with the claiming process0 -

Op, I really wish there was more people about like you.
There ae so many elderly people who are not aware of the
benefits they are entitled to.
And struggle on and on.
Bless you for caring and finding the time.make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0 -

How very true, some (if they were on benefit pre pension) are likely to have more awareness, but how many OAP's are unware and pay for care etc unknowingly.
And a lovely post by yourself to OP0 -

should point out that savings credit is means tested0 -
Attendance allowance if he/she needs help. See http://www.direct.gov.uk/en/MoneyTaxAndBenefits/BenefitsTaxCreditsAndOtherSupport/Disabledpeople/DG_10018710
This is a very useful benefit as it's non-means-testable and non-taxable, if you fulfil the criteria.
There are no benefits just for being over 70.
