Hi,
I had my insurance with hastings direct last year which was just under £30 a month, I have since moved address to a different area and they have now put this up almost £150 how can that be right? I have checked on the Police UK website as i know we live in a better area now and there is half the incidents in this area than the last....can you contest a quote with the company and where do they get there information for how good/bad an area is?

Screwing an existing customer on mid term changes is unfair so do some dummy quotes with Hastings and see what the difference between the addresses would be for a new customer.
If the difference is much the same as they are asking for ie new address costs about 5 times the old address then it's fair and just a reflection of their premium ratings so pay up or cancel and move.
However if the rates offered to a new customer don't differ by a factor of 5 then they are trying to screw you as an existing customer which isn't fair and you should complain and if necessary escalate to the FOS.
Having said all that, Jamie (I think) from Hastings keeps an eye on this forum with a view to mollifying unhappy punters so no doubt he'll be along soon and may sort it out.0 -
and, just out of interest, remove personal details and post the dummy quote results so others can see whether Hastings are a company who will treat all customers fairly or one of the increasing prevalent breed of shysters who will tempt you in with low prices and then screw you over at every opportunity0

Hi ncstone,
Thanks for posting about the experience you have had with Hastings. The price of your insurance premium is based on risk ratings, your address is one of these. I would be more than happy to look into this for you to ensure that this change in premium is correct. If you send me an email with some policy details I will investigate. Many Thanks,

CompareHastings Direct
