Last month my Dad got £10 paid into his account, and his statement read "Bank Giro Credit - Division 1". Bank didnt know who it was, so he just left it. Come this month, his statement shows the same but this time a £25 payment from this Division 1.
Been into branch and they dont know who it is and cant seem to trace it, nothing set up on his account or anything. Both times it was paid in on the same date each month. Google not really of help either.
I thought it might be the Halifax prize draw thing, but they dont appear to have a £25 payment win anywhere and he has no idea what it is

Cheers. None of those my Dad has had dealing with, and certainly not a company that would give you money every month
If the bank cant trace the payment and he cant stop it going in (its not a DD or anything) then what else can he do? Is it ok to just leave it?0 -

obviously he should use it as spending money and get a few beers with it. Even a bottle or two of champagne. :beer:0 -
If it was paid in to the wrong account by mistake it's quite likely that the company, whoever they are, will eventually realise their mistake and ask for the money back, and then your Dad will be obliged to return it. So I would leave it where it is for a very long time.0

Does he play poker online?
Leave the money in the account until the time it is reclaimed - or at least that it is covered by an interest-free overdraft buffer until it needs to be re-paid or he finds out that it really is due to him.0 -
No doesnt play poker. Yea he was going to leave it in there and see what happens0

the Problem for the company invovled is that they will have no way of getting his contact details apart. So will more then likely just write it offFor everthing else there's mastercard.
For clampers there's Barclaycard.0 -
Wouldnt be such a problem if it was a one off, its just weird how its happened 2 month in a row on the same date each month0

Less than £40 may not be worth their while but, if the payments continued, it could become so. They have the sort code and account number so contact would be via the banks involved.0 -
I receive regular payments from Division One. They are a company that deals with court order payments ie someone got charged with keying my car in the summer and they were charged with criminal damage and order to pay me compensation. The company who manages this compensation payment is Division One and regular payments are made to me as a BGC titled 'Division One'. Hope this helps0
