Reclaiming ppi from Egg

I sent off the template letter to Egg this week having discovered an old loan agreement in a box in the loft. I took out a loan in 2005 for £9000 to which they added a single premium ppi of £2085. My monthly payments were £170. In 2008 I wanted to top up the loan but Egg told me I had to take out a new one. I was in quite a bit of financial difficulty at the time and the new % was 14.5% on a £13000 loan. I was just grateful someone would lend me money. I believe I was missold ppi originally. My egg loan has since been taken over by Moorgate who, when I called them said there was no ppi on this new loan.
I hope my claim will be upheld and I am just wondering whether someone can help me work out at least a ball park of what would be a reasonable offer from Egg. I am stuggling with the spreadsheets I've seen online to work it out.
I also just discovered through an email in my spam box that I had ppi on an Egg cc since 2000. This cc at times had up to £6K on it. It is now run by Barclaycard and I have made another claim to them.
I'll let you know how I get on but any help anyone can give me with working out what I should get would be great.:) thanks

I got an email from Barclaycard saying my ppi had be transferred to Barclay Insurance (Dublin) - it was in my spam box since Jan and I only just found it so called and realised I had had ppi on my Egg cc since 2001. At times it had £6K on it and my rough workings suggest that I probably paid in excess of £3K over the years in ppi and of course interest on that as I rarely cleared the balance. I have written to them but wonder what it is worth? anyone else had similar?0 -
I think you need to slow down a bit - I am guessing that Moorgate are a debt recovery firm? If you have a successful claim against egg then they will first take any money that you owe them and if there is any left, that is what you will get.
You seem to imply that just having PPI on a card is enough to claim. You need strong verifiable reasons.
I am only warning about not getting carried away at this stage.0 -
It's not worth anything unless they uphold your claim. It's one of those, 'don't count your chickens' thingsNon me fac calcitrare tuum culi0

Hi I have jut sent a complaint to egg re a 10k loan from 2005. I found a statement last wk and it showed ppi on it. As I applied for the loan online I hold no hope of being paid out despite the fact that it is common knowledge that they used per ticked boxes online. I also had a credit card with egg but have zero details about this. Dud u claim for the cc also?0 -
I got the cheque from Egg a couple of weeks' ago for my loan but I had a rejection letter from Barlclaycard (they took over the Egg card) so I have referred it to the FOS and am waiting to hear back from them. I am pretty sure it was a pre-ticked box back in 2000 when I applied.0

Hi everyone,
I had an Egg loan which I think I started in 2003/4 and I can see I was still paying it off in 2009 by looking at old bank statements.
I was recently contacted by a PPI calims company about this. They looked at their risk calculator and from the details I gave them thought it suggested there was PPI on the loan. They were planning on sending an Independent advisor round tomorrow.
Unfortuantely I seem to have thrown away all my old paperwork as I paid off my loan in full, but from my bank statement I have the old DD reference number.
Can anyone tell me what I do next? The PPI claims company said that the DD reference would be enough for them, but as they take 30% I thought I would try and do it myself.
Do I need to contact Egg directly, I wasn't sure if Egg were still operational as I couldn't find a number on the web for them? I know that Egg loans have been taken over by Brittania so should I speak with them?
Any help would be appreciated!
Thanks,
