human separation anxiety!

Tyson has just gone out for a walk for the day with his girlfriend and her owner.

I have just realised it is the first time I have been in the house on my own without him!

Usually he is either here waiting for me when I get home, or he has come out with me.

Even when he has been at the vets before I have been out at work etc.

It's very odd (but also quite peaceful!), the house feels so empty.

I don't want to be morbid, but I think I have realised that when the time comes I am not going to be one of those people that wait months before getting another dog. I am going to need to get another one pretty urgently!

Would rescues do a homecheck and keep it on their books so I wouldn't have to go through the weeks of waiting for a homecheck if I found a pooch I wanted?

I really am turning in to crazy dog lady....

Have you tried chewing cupboards and door frames? Maybe you could pee on the kitchen floor! How about attacking cushions or chewing a hole in the wall.
This is what most furbabies do when they have separation anxiety.

Is your howling anoying the neighbours? If so, when Tyson gets back - ask him to knock and apologise for you ;)

Tyson is still young so stop being silly....

But it never hurts to have a look at:

The BIGGSD forum arrange homechecks that most of the involved rescues (quite a few on there, nationwide) will accept and I think they prefer you to be homechecked before applying for dogs so that they can minimise waiting times for dogs already in. Not sure how long they'll 'store' a homecheck for but could be worth asking :)

Well I survived without peeing everywhere and chewing everything up!

He came home all cheerful so now I feel jealous that he can have a good time without me. Man, I have serious issues!

I think I will contact some of the rescues and see how long they would store home checks for then. I can't look at the websites though so will have to ring them. If I look at the sites Tyson will end up with hundreds of brothers and sisters!!
