Car insurance... how many no claims?

I passed my test August last year, bought a car on 21st September and started my insurance then.

Ive received a renewal quote and it has 2 years no claims, i was thinking i only had 1 years? Ive spoken to the insurance company (LV) and they have said that is correct as you will be in your second year?

Just wondering if someone could clarify this before i go and look elsewhere.

Cheers

What they said is rubbish - they must've given you 1 year introductory hence 2 this year.

The NCD you have is whatever you have proof of.

Although some websites will throw a wobbly if you say you have been driving for 1 year but have 2 years NCD.

So i should be putting 1 years in price comparison sites then?

Im not bothered either way, as far as im concerned i was only expecting to put 1 years no claims... if i can put 2 then thats just a bonus.

Im just not sure what i should be putting when trying to get quotes.

If you have a renewal stating 2 years NCD then you can put that down in any quotes you get as you have the proof.

We had our first insurance with Directline and got 2 years NCD after only having a policy for a year.

  • My first renewal came round with 2 years NCD on it. I phoned them up and they said that they give you an extra year's accelerated NCD after your first claim free year. Maybe this happens to you too.
