I'm looking for freeware to index the contents of my removable disks - they have become too much for storing in text files with dir > file.txt!
So far I am leaning towards this: http://www.gentibus.com/GentibusCD/index.html
I have also seen:
http://www.ghacks.net/2011/05/09/disk-explorer-professional-disk-catalog-software/ (seems it can look inside archive files too)
Has anyone used any of these or got any other suggestions?

Are they plugged in constantly, indexed in what way, filenames, or contents. What data is on them, that isn't on your main hard disk - c:!!

i have used a free program called Directory Lister. The program will quickly list all the files in a drive and you can copy and paste the results to Excel or Word.
